GALVA - The Ridge View girls defeated Woodbine, 9-5, in a rain- soaked Western Valley Coference softball game here on Wednesday. Even though the conditions were wet and cold, both teams played hard. Picking up the win on the mound for Ridge View was Gretchen Kistenmacher, who threw all seven innings and gave up five runs on 12 hits while walking two and striking out four. Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors were Dana Hustedt, who went 3-4 with a double and an RBI; Ashlynn Blenner, who went 2-3 with a double and an RBI; Gretchen Kistenmacher, who wast 2-4 with a double with a 2 RBI; and Kaitlin Wulf, who went 1-3 with a double and one RBI.
Ridge View Coach Scott Phelps said the coaches were happy with the discipline the Raptors batters are showing at the plate and how they putting the ball into play, and commented that the team is also showing improvement in other areas of the game. Ridge View travels to George for a weekend tournament where they will play two games each day againist some tough competition.
