Wessling hurls 2nd career no-hitter as Raptors move to 5-0

EARLY - The Ridge View High School baseball team rolled to their fifth victory without a loss here on Thursday as they defeated Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove, 11-1 in five innings.

The Raptors' pitchers continued their amazing mound performances, as Kyle Wessling threw a no-hitter, the second of his career. Wessling struck out five batters in his five innings pitched. Ridge View coach Shannon Tesch said Wessling "was really sharp-changing speeds well and hitting spots." Three of Ridge View's last four games have been no-hitters - two by Kris Alesch, and the one Thursday by Wessling.

Wessling also stroked a double at the plate and two Raptors had perfect 3 for 3 nights Austin Struchenm who scored three times and drove in a run, and Dru Kenny, who had a double and drove in three runs. Chris Brosamle was 1-3 and drove in two runs.

Coach Tesch said, " It's impressive how well our pitchers are performing. Physically they throw well and have good stuff, but they also understand the mental side of pitching. "

The Raptors are 5-0 and 1-0 in Western Valley Conference play.
