The Cherokee Community Theatre's CCT Jr. proudly announces plans for Summer Theatre Camp this summer.
Open to youth who have completed 1st grade through 8th grade as of Spring 2012, the camp will provide an opportunity for the children of the Cherokee area to learn about theatre and perform this summer.
Camp will be held the mornings of July 16-20 from 9 a.m. to noon with a final performance open to the public on Friday, July 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Gillette Park, weather permitting.
Hannah Anderson and Kadie Dennison from Buena Vista University will be training youth in the areas of: costume, audition, set design and other theatrical skills.
They will also be preparing a play under the direction of Penny Pingrey with Christi Sayler and Cheryl Ellis as assistant directors. There is a place for everyone who is interested in any aspect of theatre, from makeup to set construction to acting on stage.
A nominal fee of $5 is required to attend the camp offered in conjunction with Cherokee Parks and Recreation Department. Official sign-up will be held at the Community Center on June 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Forms are also available at the City Recreation Office (in the Cherokee Community Center) and online at www.cherokeeiowa.net/youth_registration.... or www.cherokeect.org.
Please drop off the form and your registration fee at the Cherokee Park and Rec offices Monday-Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you are interested in donating your time or snacks for the camp, please contact Penny Pingrey at 712-225-2990.
