Warrior girls top Pocahontas Area

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia softball team took on Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer here on Friday in Twin Lakes Conference action, and the Warriors came away 6-2 winners.

Sophomore hurler Tayler Rohwer continued her impressive development with a complete game 8-hitter, allowing just two runs, while striking out eight and issuing no bases on balls. Rachel Husman led the team at the plate with a 2-3, one-walk performance, Jill Buckendahl was 1-2, walked twice, and scored three runs, and pitcher Rohwer helped herself by driving in a run with a hit.

Alta-Aurelia coach Dave Turnquist said, "We were patient at the plate and drew seven walks along with our six hits. We manufactured a few runs, which is an important skill to learn. Defensively we were solid. We were very good at knowing where to throw and we threw out three baserunners.Tayler had a great night with location and kept them off balance."

Alta-Aurelia now has an 8-6 mark on the season.
