Baseball Braves lose 2 road games

The Cherokee Braves dropped two recent baseball games on the road, falling at Estherville-LC 6-1, and losing 9-3 at Sheldon.

Cherokee scored its lone run in the sixth inning to tie the game against E-LC at 1-1, before the Midgets rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to pocket the win.

Nate Seliger took the pitching loss for Cherokee, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks, with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work. Lucas Lamoureaux pitched 2/3 an inning and struck out one batter.

The Braves managed just three hits against the Midget pitcher, with Dillon Drefke going 2-3 with a double, and Seliger singling and scoring the team's only run.

Jake Spindler took the pitching loss at Sheldon, allowing eight earned runs on nine hits and two walks, with nine Ks in 5 1/3 innings. Lamoreaux pitched 2/3 an inning and gave up one hit,

The Orabs tallied three runs in the first inning and tacked on five more in the sixth to seal the deal.

Cherokee pounded out 10 hits in the game but could not string anything together. Luke Zeimen was 3-4 with a stolen base, Austin Winchell 2-3 with a run scored, Adam Pitts 2-4 with a double and two RBI, and Spindler 2-3. Marc Husman was 1-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

The Braves play at Storm Lake tonight, and at Emmetsburg Wednesday.
