GALVA - The Ridge View softball team continued to play good softball as they defeated Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove by the score of 6-2 in Western Valley Conference action in Battle Creek on Monday.
Getting the win on the mound for the Raptors was Gretchen Kistenmacher, who threw all seven innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits while walking none and striking out five. Leading the way at the plate were Ashlynn Blenner, who went 2-4 with a double and an RBI; Kaitlin Wulf, who went 1-4 with a double and had two RBI; Gretchen Kistenmacher, who also had a double, and Rachel Boyle and Sage Bennett, both of whom had one RBI.
The coaches were happy with the way the kids played defensively and offensively while the pitchers are throwing strikes.
Ridge View defeated West Harrison by the score of 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday night in Galva. Picking up the win on the mound for the Raptors was Mandy Wolver, who pitched all five innings and gave up one unearned run on four hits while walking nobody and striking out two.
Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors, who pounded out 15 hits, were Rachel Boyle, who went 3-3 inckuding a double and had two RBI; Ashlynn Blenner,who was 2-3, scored three runs and had an RBI and also stole two bases; Nicole Snyder, who went 3-3 with an RBI; Dana Hustedt ,who went 2-3 with a double and an RBI; Kaitlin Wulf, who went 2-4 with an RBI, Sage Bennett, who slugged a triple and drove in a run; Gretchen Kistenmacher, who went 1-2 with a double and Kyra Hoffman, who also clubbed a two-bagger.
The Ridge View coaches are happy the way this squad continues to show improvement defensively over the last week, and how they continue to progress and make improvements on a daily basis.
Ridge View is now 13-8 overall and 7-4 in the conference.
