WHITING - The improving Ridge View softball team defeated the host team here on Thursday, winning the Western Valley Conference contest by score of 16-0 in 4 innings.
Picking up the victory on the mound was junior Gretchen Kistenmacher who threw all four innings and gave up three hits while walking one and striking out two, keeping the ball around the plate and mixing up her pitches well.
Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors were Mandy Wolver, who went 3-4, including a double, with four RBI. Gretchen Kistenmacher clubbed two triples and drove in two runs; Nicole Snyder went 2-3, including a triple; Kyra Hoffman hit a 2-run home run; Sage Bennett was 2-4 with one RBI; Emily Egger went 1-1 with an RBI; and Rachel Boyle tripled.
Ridge View coach Scott Phelps said the coaches are extremely happy with the defense the team has displayed the past week and the solid pitching. The team also continues to hit the ball well as they pounded out 16 hits Thursday.
Ridge View now improves to 14-8 overall and 8-4 in the conference.
