Alta- Aurelia girls have a lot of new faces this year

ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia girls posted a 27-7 overall record and were 8-0 in Twin Lakes Conference play last summer. But, as the saying goes, "That was then and this is now." Graduation took many of last year's regulars, so Alta-Aurelia is in the process of rebuilding this year.

However, says Coach Dave Turnquist, "This team is very hard working and that can only lead to good things. They've really taken to what we've taught in hitting and fielding, and there is also good chemistry throughout the team."

Returning starters or letter winners for the Warriors include senior catcher Alexis Hernandez, who was an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection last year; senior second baseman Jill Buckendahl; junior center fielder Gracie Winterhof; and sophomore first baseman Christena Heschke.

Newcomers this year include senior Rachel Husman in the outfield; junior Stephanie Stange in the infield; junior April Hase, left field; junior Katie Turnquist, 3rd base; sophomore pitcher Tayler Rohwer; and freshman shortstop-pitcher Jenna Snyder.

Coach Turnquist will be assisted by Kacee Jensen and Lesa Turnquist this year.
