PAULLINA - This season should be a good one for the South O'Brien baseball team, with coach Heath Reichle greeting six experienced varsity lettermen who will willingly carry the load for the Wolverines.
They include Zane Roberts, Tanner Matthews, Adam Paulsen, Cole Ebel, Sam Weber, and Michael Callahan.
AMong several promising newcomers who will impact the team are Bret Puhrmann and Kody Nelson.
Roberts return as the most decorated Wolverine, earning first team All-War Eagle Conference honors last year.
Many of the starters are capable of pitching, including Bret Puhrmann, but their primary positions show Cole Ebel in centerfield, Roberts at shortstop, Callahan at first base, Matthews behind the plate, Landon Lenhart outfield, Will Friedrichsen designated hitter, Adam Paulsen second base, Nelson outfield, and Andrew Weaver third base.
Reichle lists pitching and defense as among his team's strengths to be counted on if the Wolverines want to exceed last year's 16-12 overall record.
Former SOS players DJ Hansen, Kevin Brasser, and Chas Biery are assisting Reichle this year.
