The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn softball team split two recent games, falling 6-5 to a tough Remsen St. Mary's team in Cleghorn, and beating West Sioux in Hawarden 5-1.

Kayla Foresman took the hard-luck pitching loss to St. Mary's when the Hawks rallied for two runs in the 7th inning to seal the deal. Foresman allowed four earned runs on nine hits and three walks, with seven strikeouts in seven innings or work.

Brandi Orr smacked a home run and accounted for four RBI in a 2-4 hitting performance, and also scored a run to lead the Eagles. Foresman laced a double for one RBI, and Jalyn Doeden and Erica Dreckman also had hits for MMC.

Foresman got the mound win against West Sioux, limiting the Falcons to just one run on two hits and one walk.

Dreckman paced the Eagles at the plate with a 2-3 game, two RBI, a double, and run scored. Doeden also was 2-3 with a double, Heather Hoefling 2-4 with an RBI and run scored, and Sarah Dreckman 1-3 with a run scored. Alison Meehan had a single and one RBI for the winners.

MMC plays at Remsen-Union tonight, and at Granville Spalding Friday night.
