District Baseball pairings announced

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released the pairings for the upcoming District baseball tournaments in the Chronicle Times coverage area.

In Class 1A, River Valley will be playing in District 1, and their first game will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, when they take on Woodbury Central in a game at Lawton. The winner of that game will play in Lawton again on Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m., against the winner of Tuesday's game between Lawton-Bronson and the winner of the July 7th Westwood-Whiting game. Teams in the other half of District 1 include Kingsley-Pierson, Akron-Westfield, Hinton and Le Mars Gehlen Catholic.

Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn is playing in District 2 of Class 1A, and the Eagles' first game is at Remsen St. Mary's on July 10 at 7 p.m., when they face the host Hawks. The winner of that contest will play the winner of the Spalding Catholic/Remsen-Union game at St. Mary's on Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m. Other teams in District 2 include West Lyon, Central Lyon, George-Little Rock, West Sioux and Trinity Christian.

The final Class 1A team in the Chronicle-Times coverage area is the South O'Brien Wolverines, who play in District 3. Their first game will be at Hartley at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, against the winner of the July 7th game between Clay Central-Everly and Sibley-Ocheydan. The winner of the July 10 game will meet the winner of the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and Harris-Lake Park game at Hartley on Thursday, July 12. Other teams in District 3 include Storm Lake St. Mary's, Laurens-Marathon, Graettinger-Terril and Newell-Fonda.

In Class 2A, the Cherokee Washington High School Braves are in District 1, and their first game, on Saturday July 7 at 5 p.m., will be against Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley at Sioux Center. The winner will play Sheldon at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10 in Sioux Center. Other teams in District 3 include Sioux Center, Orange City Unity Christian and Hull Western Christian.

Alta-Aurelia plays in Distict 2 at Emmetsburg, and the Warriors' first game will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, when they take on Okoboji.

The winner of that game will meet Sioux Central in Emmetsburg at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10. Other teams in the District include Estherville-Lincon Cental, Emmetsburg and North Union (NSK-AR).

The final area 2A team are the Ridge View Raptors, and they will be playing in District 16 at the Kuemper Catholic field in Carroll. The Raptors' initial game will be on Saurday, July 7 at 7 p.m. against Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto, with the winner to meet East Sac County at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10. Other teams in District 16 include Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla/Manning, Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove and Kuemper Catholic.
