EMMETSBURG - The Cherokee Braves tallied four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take an 11-5 lead over Emmetsburg here last week, but the E-Hawks battled back in their half of the sixth with five runs of their own to pull within one run at 11-10 before the Braves shut the door in the seventh to pocket the exciting win in 98-degree heat.
Zac Smith got the pitching win for Cherokee, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and three walks, with five strikeouts in five innings pitched. Jake Spindler came on in relief to give up one earned run on three hits and one walk, with two Ks in two innings of work.

Brett Walker came up big in the game for the Braves, with a 3-3 night, including two RBI and two runs scored. Austin Winchell was 2-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, Connor Voge wasx 2-4 with an RBI and run scored, Luke Zeimen was 2-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Adam Pitts, Spindler, Nate Seliger, Dillon Drefke, and Lucas lamoureaux also stroked hits for the winners.
The Braves end regular season play at Spencer tonight.
