River Valley girls defeat West Sioux

REMSEN - The River Valley girls beat Western Valley Conference foe West Sioux, 7-3, here on Monday in first-round Class 1A Regional Tournament action.

Senior hurler Mackenzie Fitch allowed three earned runs on three hits over seven inning of pitching, walking three and striking out two to pick up the victory for RV.

The Wolverines had nine hits, led by Kari Ludvigson's three base knocks and Olivia Goettsch's two. Both girls slugged one double, as did their teammate Jordain Volkert.

The Wolverines (13-11) will now play Remsen-Union in Remsen at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner likely to go up against the powerful Akron-Westfield team (33-1) on Friday.
