Cherokee girls fall 11-3 to Le Mars

Visiting Le Mars erupted for seven runs in the first two innings to get up and away from the Cherokee Washington High softball team here Friday night, on the way to an 11-3 conquest in Lakes Conference action.

Cherokee's freshman pitching corps shared duties, with Emily Haselhoff absorbing the loss, allowing five earned runs on six hits and five walks in four innings of work. Brookelyn Hoeppner gave up two earned runs on two hits and one walk, with one strikeout in three innings pitched.

Cherokee managed just five hits in the game, with Megan Hummel 2-4 and a run scored to lead the way, followed by Ariana Smith 1-2 with a run scored, and Grace Teusink coaxing three walks and scoring a run. Kaitlyn Kennebeck and Kaely Hummel also stroked singles for the WHS club.
