Two top - flight teams met in the championship game of the Western Valley Conference baseball tournament on Tuesday, and the Ridge View and Lawton-Bronson boys came up with a game to match the expectations.
Ridge View scored three in the 1st inning, but Lawton-Bronson came back to score four in their half. The Raptors evened things up in he 3rd, but the Eagles edged ahead again in the bottom of the 3rd. After two scoreless frames, the Raptors tied it up in the top of the 6th, and the game wound up going into extra innings, with Lawton-Bronson winning the game by a 6-5 score with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Kris Alesch went the distance on the mound for Ridge View, allowing five earned runs on eight hits, while striking out 11. Alesch also slugged two doubles at the plate and had an RBI. Ryan Garthoff and Seth Johnson each collected two hits for the Raptors, and Austin Stuchen clubbed a three-run home run. Travis Hoeppner had a double and an RBI and Austin Graff added a single to the Raptors' nine hit attack. Lawton-Bronson had eight hits as a team, including three hits by Matt Smith, two by Matt Skinner, and a big three-run home run by Dylon Lower.
The Ridge View Raptors are now 17-8 on the season and 11-5 in the Western Valley Conference.
