Cherokee students celebrate RAGBRAI with art

Friday, July 6, 2012

Students in the Cherokee Community School District spent time with their teachers Susan Jenson and Linda Ducommun to create some really great art for RAGBRAI. The Book Vine in Cherokee is currently acting as a gallery for all the artwork submitted.

Students in grades k- 5 were asked to create a piece of art using the Cherokee RAGBRAI theme of "Saddle Up and Ride." The creations these young people have come up with are wonderful! A variety of medium was used to bring forth their individual ideas while tying in the themes of the West and bike riding.

Molly Loughlin, owner of the Book Vine, graciously allowed the artwork to be hung in the loft of her store. The walls, bookcases and railing are covered in original artwork. These creations are available to be seen during store hours through July 22. After that, they will be taken down and returned to the schools where students may pick them up.
