REMSEN - River Valley's six- game winning streak - and their season - came to a close with a 4-2 loss to 11th- ranked Remsen-Union in the 2nd round of the Class 1A Regional Softball Tournament here on Thursday.

In Mackenzie Fitch's last game of her career, the RV standout pitched a 5- hitter while accounting for both Wolverine runs with a 2-run homer. Kari Ludvigson also closed out her career with two hits, while Bailey Fitch added two singles. River Valley left nine runners on base throughout the game and this proved to be their undoing.

River Valley finished the season with a 13-12 record and they were 8-8 in the Western Valley Cconference.

The game marked the end of the careers of four River Valley seniors, and each received special mention from coach Dean Norris :

"First baseman Jacie Jepsen played with a broken finger, and she was always willing to do what was best for the team; Lexie Chester was a 2-time All Conference selection who won the 'Teammate of the Year' award multiple times; MacKenzie Fitch was a 3-time All Conference selection who always played the game at 100 percent , and will be playing softball at Buena Vista next year; and the most decorated player in RV history, Kari Ludvigson, was a 4-time All Conference, All District and 2 time All State selection who was a positive leader for the squad.

"Although we will miss their talents on the field, their personalities, attitudes, hard work, and willingness to do whatever was asked of them will be missed the most, I know all four of these girls will go on to be sucessful due to these attributes and will be really missed by the River Valley softball program."
