ALTA - At the monthly meeting of the Aurelia and Alta School Boards Monday, Superintendent Lynn Evans presented another educational program on School Board Development to board members, entitled "Simplifying School Finance."
Jessie Baker, a parent in the Aurelia School District, requested that the Aurelia board look into setting up Before and After School Programs for students, as all daycare providers will now have to be licensed and that will eliminate some of the current in-home providers. No action taken at this time, but Evans said it will be looked into.
In other business, the matter of a possible gift of property to the Alta district was tabled; the Alta board approved Cornwell, Frideres, Maher & Associates for the district audit; and Alta reported that the district had received two bids on the used bus, and the winning bid was $1000 from VanderHaag's Inc.
The following Board Policies were approved upon their second reading : Equal Opportunities in Education Policy, Equal Opportunities in Employment Policy,
Post-Issuance Compliance Policy and the Internet Safety Policy.
Middle School teacher Jen Wittmaack's resignation was accepted, and contracts were approved for Tiffany Miller as Assistant Girls Basketball coach and Rebecca Weber as the Wrestling Cheerleading Sponsor.
The Alta board will meet July 19 at 6:30 to discuss and prioritize facility planning for their district.
The next scheduled joint meeting of the two boards will be Monday August 13.
