There was not much on the agenda at Tuesday's weekly meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Supervisors, and as a result the meeting was brief. Supervisor Mark Leeds chaired the meeting in the absence of Chairman Dean Schmidt.
The Supervisors reviewed claims and approved payment of all claims, and they also approved a permit for fireworks for Duane Mummert.
Cherokee City Administrator Don Eikmeier was present, and he informed the Board that the City would be using the parking lot by the Sheriff's office to set up an Information Center when the RAGBRAI riders are in town, and an additional power line needs to be run to allow this. Eikmeier assured the Supervisors that all precautions will be taken to avoid any digging which would affect any existing underground lines.
Eikmeier also said that the City plans to apply for a Vision Iowa Grant for additional funding for the proposed Cherokee Koser Spring Lake Park Yacht Club project,
The original deadline date for submitting Vision Iowa requests has been extended from July 15th to October, so the City will have a little more time than originally thought to prepare the grant request.
