Cherokee P.D. has two new officers

Two new polce officers have recently joined the Cherokee Police Department. J.D. Rogge joined the Cherokee police force on May 11th and Brandon Flug joined the local force a week later, on May 18th.

Rogge is a Cherokee County native, graduating in 1992 from Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn High School. He was also formerly employed at Tyson's in Cherokee for 11 years, until he joined the police force in May. Rogge had been a member of the Cherokee Police Reserve Force for three years prior to that. He will be attending a 14 week course at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy at Western Iowa Tech this fall.

Officer Rogge and his wife Missy have an 8 year-old daughter, London, who will be a third grader at Roosevelt Elementary this fall and a 5 year-old son, Trapper, who will be in kindergarten.

Officer Brandon Flug
Brandon Flug, 24, is also an Iowa native who graduated from High Scool in Waverly, and whose parents currently reside in Carroll. He earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice at Des Moines Area Community College in May of this year and came to Cherokee a short time later. Officer Flug said he really likes the town of Cherokee. He will be going to Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City in September for the eight-week Iowa Law Enforcement Academy training.
