Bonnie D. Pope, 85, Moundville, Mo. passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dederick, MO.
Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada and the family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, July 16, 2012, between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.

She was born March 26, 1927 in Cherokee, to Richard Peterson and Hazel Swanson Peterson. She was married March 18, 1946 in Cherokee to Leonard P. Pope, and he survives of the home.
Bonnie grew up in Cherokee and graduated high school there. She came to Vernon County with her husband in 1960. She worked for the Nevada City Hospital for 18 years, in the delivery room, until her retirement. Bonnie was known for raising peacocks on their family farm.
She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Linda and Becky, one son-in-law, Sonny Newton, one grandson Jeff, and one brother, Donald Peterson.
In addition to her husband Leonard, survivors include one daughter, Connie Newton, Nevada, Mo.; two sons, Paul Pope, and Rodney Pope, both of Moundville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Amanda Davis, Eureka, Kan., Randi Brockmiller, Lamar, Mo., Sara Thompson, Nevada, Mo., Casey Newton,, Nevada, Mo., Chris Newton, Nevada, Jenny Swopes, Eldorado Springs, Mo., and Jill Kaemmerling, Nevada, Mo.; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Nona Grohe and her husband Gordon, Aurelia; one brother Jon Peterson, and his wife Rhonda, Cherokee; one sister-in-law, Charlene Peterson, Aurelia; several nieces and nephews.
