STORM LAKE - Storm Lake St. Mary's scored a total of five runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings in their Class 1A district championship game against South O'Brien here on Saturday, and the Wolverines could only get to St. Mary's hurler Joe Sandhoff for four hits and a single run, as the Panthers took the championship game by a final score of 7-1.
South O'Brien's four hits, all singles, were collected by Cole Ebel, Michael Callahan, Tanner Matthews and Adam Paulsen, and Callahn had the lone Wolverine RBI, in the 4th inning.
Zane Roberts took the loss on the hill, throwing 5 1/3 innings and allowing six earned runs on 10 hits, while walking one and striking out four. Michael Callahan threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, walking one and striking out one, and Bret Puhrmann pitched 1/3 of an inning, giving up no hits or runs.

South O'Brien finishes the season with a fine 18-10 mark, and says goodbye to an excellent senior class of Cole Ebel, Zane Roberts, Tanner Matthews, Adam Paulsen and Landon Lenhart.
