Calling all summer blood donors

Giving the gift of life - Employees at RJ Thomas Mfg. in Cherokee recently donated 32 pints of blood and platelets to Life Serve Blood Center. That represents 49% of the Cherokee company's employees. DES MOINES -- LifeServe Blood Center is looking for volunteer blood donors to make life-saving blood donations as soon as possible.

During the summer months, the local blood supply an often drop down to less than a two day supply for blood types. Donations are needed now to help prevent a critical blood shortage.

Don't forget.Everyone who registers to donate blood before Sept. 1, 2012 will have the exclusive opportunity to redeem a "Starve a Mosquito" t-shirt from the LifeServe Blood Center Online Store for just 100 points.

Your donation is needed at the next Cherokee Community Blood Drive. The blood drive will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 from noon to 5:30 p.m. at Cherokee Community Center, 530 W. Bluff.
