Otto Frangenberg was born on March 19, 1910, in Leonore, Illinois. He was the 9th of 14 children born to Katherine (Tutschin) and William Frangenberg, When Otto was 4 years old, the family boarded a train and moved to Iowa, where they spent 6 years in Anthon, and another 6 years in Merrill before settling on a farm near Marcus in 1926.
