STORM LAKE-- Austin Dickinson joins the Buena Vista University football coaching staff in 2012 and will help coach the offensive line. In addition to his coaching duties, he will also serve as the athletic department's equipment manager.

Dickinson was a four-year letterwinner while playing defensive tackle for Coach Anderson and the Beavers from 2006-09, registering 123 total tackles, including 14 for a loss. He tallied a career-high 45 stops as a senior, while chalking up a career-best 6.5 for a loss as a junior when the team finished 7-3 overall.

"Austin returns to BVU and we are happy to have him back on campus to help coach our football team and be our equipment manager," says BVU Director of Athletics Christyn Abaray. "He brings not only the football knowledge from his experiences elsewhere but also the understanding of being a BV student-athlete. Replacing legendary Bob Lenhart as the equipment manager, Austin will be in charge of all BVU athletics apparel and equipment. We're excited and lucky to have him on board."

After graduating in the spring of 2010 with a degree in sports management, Dickinson went on to serve two years as an assistant with the Minot State University program, working with the offensive line and tight ends.

"It's fun being back at Buena Vista where I got to play my collegiate career under Coach Anderson," says Dickinson. "It's a great place and has a great atmosphere. The coaching staff that is here is the same as when I played, so I know them all really well and they're a great group. I'm excited to have this opportunity and to be a part of Buena Vista Football again."

Dickinson, a native of Woodbine, and his wife, Whitney, reside in Storm Lake.
