Two of the Midwest's finest polka bands will be performing at the Hanover Festival on Sunday, August 26, from noon to 7 p.m., as Karl's Country Dutchmen and Gary's Ridgeland Dutchmen - both from Wisconsin - make return appearances for your dancing and listening pleasure.
Both bands have received national accolades, including Gary's induction into the World Concertina Hall of Fame in 2008. Karl began playing at age 12, and he has appeared in 30 states and several foreign countries.
The Hanover Village recently hosted RAGBRAI riders from every state and several foreign countries.
Stop in during the Hanover Festival and see what many of the riders described as an "awesome" experience. Admission is $7.50, and children 14 and under are admitted free. Freshly- grilled sandwiches, homemade pie and ice cream and beverages will also be served.
Proceeds from the event fund the continued restoration and maintenance of the village, and will be supplemented with a grant from the Buena Vista Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
