Viola M. Allbaugh of Cherokee,age 94, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, and Pastor Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at the church at 1:15 p.m.on Saturday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Viola was born July 25, 1918 in Yankton, South Dakota to Hans and Marie (Mohr) Sievers. She graduated from Thurston, Nebraska high school in 1936. She was married to Harold D. Allbaugh on December 17, 1938 at Wisner, Nebraska. She had worked as a store clerk at Ben Franklin, as a waitress at the Dinner Bell Café, Speelmon's Steak House and Gus's Steakhouse. She had also worked as the motel clerk at the LaGrande Hacienda Motel in Cherokee, retiring in 1975. She had been a long time resident of Cherokee, prior to this lived in the Quimby area. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge and had been a volunteer for Mid-Sioux and at several nursing homes. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold in 2011; a great granddaughter Lynn M. Wettels in 1999; six brothers - Edwin, Leonard and Clarence Sievers and Lewis, Lester and Delwin Miller; and three sisters - Leona Doescher, Lavonne Miller and Francis Bird.

Viola is survived by her five children; Sandra (Bill) King of Vergas, Minnesota; Willis (Joyce) Allbaugh of Quimby;Patricia Berg of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dennis (Jonita) Allbaugh of Schuyler, Nebraska; Marcia (Donnie) Burch of Cherokee; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one brother Arlon (Doris)_Miller of Omaha, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
