River Valley opens volleyball season

MOVILLE - The River Valley girls dropped two volleyball matches in a triangular here Tuesday night, falling 25-12, 25-16 to West Harrison, and 25-12, 25-11 to host Woodbury Central.

Against West Harrison, Olivia Goettsch led the Wolverines in attack attempts with eight and three kills, while Paige Korver tallied three with two kills, and Jordain Volkert three with one kill. Bailey Fitch led in assists with three.

Kelsie Brown led River Valley at service with a 4-4 match, followed by Fitch 3-4, Jenna Knaack 2-3, Alysa Georgeopoulos 2-3, and Allison Brown 2-4. Allison Brown led in blocks with three.

Volkert paced the Wolverines in attacks against Woodbury Central with five and one killl, followed by Payton Goettsch with four attacks, and Olivia Goettsch and Fitch with three apiece.

Fitch led RV in serving with an 8-8 effort, while Volkert was 6-6, Olivia Goettsch 3-4, and Kelsie Brown 2-2. Georgeopoulos, Olivia Goettsch, and Korver each registered two blocks in the match. Volkert also totaled five digs to lead in that department.
