Celebrate Iowa Prairie History Week with a unique event at the Prairie Heritage Center, located northeast of Sutherland.
The center is hosting yet another talented speaker in a series of programs presented this summer.
Dr. Danuta Hutchins of Storm Lake will be presenting "Flowers of the Prairie" on Tuesday, Sept. 11 beginning at 7 p.m.
The focus of the presentation will be prairie wildflowers. These colorful beauties will come to life as participants learn about bloom time, medicinal/edible uses for the plants and more. The information will be presented in a hands-on manner which will captivate the interests of many.
"Flowers on the Prairie" has been funded by Humanities Iowa, a non-profit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as a grant from the Iowa Community Cultural Program.
Come out to the Prairie Heritage Center to enjoy this special program. For more information, contact the O'Brien County Conservation Board at 712-295-7200.
