RV girls lose in 4 sets to Spartans

ONAWA - The River Valley girls traveled to Onawa on Monday to take on the West Monona Spartans in Western Valley Conference volleyball action, and the Wolverines lost in four sets by scores of 19-25, 18-25, 26-24, 9-25.

Payton Goettsch was 8/8 in serving and Jenna Knaack was 6/6, while at the net , Olivia Goettsch had six kills for RV. Kelsie Brown had 24 digs and Brianna Eades 12. Bailey Fitch had 10 assists and was 9/9 serving, while Jordain Volkert was 4/4 serving and had two blocks.

River Valley coach Pamela Frederiksen said, "We improved our communication and played with a lot more confidence than we did last week, (but) we need to improve our serving and also keep our hitting errors down if we want to be successful and come out on top."

Coach Frederiksen singled out freshman Jenna Knaack and Payton Goettsch for coming off the bench to give the team some great serves.
