A group of 31 women from the Cherokee area traveled by bus to Des Moines to attend the Women of Faith conference, held on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Women of Faith tour appears in cities across the U.S. during the year.

This year's conference was titled "Celebrate What Matters"; based on the verse Psalms 33: 20-21, "So our hope is in the Lord. He is our help, our shield to protect us. We rejoice in Him, because we trust His holy name."

During those two days thousands of women heard messages from Sheila Walsh, Angie Smith, Liz Curtis Higgs, Ken Davis, Christine Caine, Ann Voskamp, and music by the Worship Team with a live band.

Special guest speakers and singers were CC Winans and the group Selah. Additional features were the Ballet Magnificat and an image of Jesus magically painted by an artist using only his hands while an arrangement of hymns were played.

This year the group were treated to a completely new staging setup as well as an entirely new program.

Those in attendance returned home refreshed, encouraged, and inspired. Organizer of the trip was Pat Friedrichsen. Next year's conference will be held at the Wells Fargo Center in Des Moines on Aug. 23-24, 2013.

The group welcomes everyone to come with them.
