Cherokee XC team runs at Spirit Lake

SPIRIT LAKE - The Cherokee Washington High cross country teams competed in Spirit Lake on a very hot evening Tuesday, but Coach Matt Hoskinson felt his team ran very well despite the heat.

The Cherokee girls were led by Hanna Benningsdorf, who finished in 41st place with a time of 18:32 over the 4k course on Brooks Golf Course. Breeana DeVos was 42nd, with time of 18:34; Sydney Hart was 55th, in 21:04; Danni Roethler placed 57th with a time of 21:46; and Abby Lubeck was 60th, in 24:15.

Cherokee also had three Junior Varsity runners compete - Amber Lundquist, who finished 63rd in 23:48; Isabelle Reusch, who finished 70th in 25:51; and Dallis Ellis, 75th with a time of 27:52.

The undermanned Cherokee boys turned in a nice performance, also, led by Eamon Adamson, who medalied in 13th place, with a time of 17:47 for the 5k race. He was followed closely by teammate Jaden Lux, who also medaled with his 15th place finish, in a time of 18:00. Andy Pitts ran third for the Braves, and he finished 42nd, with a time of in a time of 19:41; and Brendan Nelson finished in 55th place with a time of 23:34.

The Cherokee teams compete again Tuesday in the Le Mars Invitational run on the Brunsville Golf Course.
