Barbara J. Belden, 42, of Cherokee, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 31, 2012 in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Memorial services will be on Friday, Sept. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Magrey deVega will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday.

Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to service time on Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Barbara was born on February 10, 1970 at Syracuse, New York to David and Georgia Lee (Thompson) McEwen Sr. She was married to Charles I. Belden Jr. on February 14, 1988 in New York.

She had been a resident of Cherokee the past 11 years and was originally from New York. She had worked at McDonald's, Tyson Foods and most recently with Liberty Food Service at Tysons Deli until her health failed in March of 2012. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

She enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, cooking, baking, bowling , taking walks, movies, loved taking care of her family and spending time with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a stillborn son Aaron James Belden, 2 brothers Burton and David McEwen Jr.

She is survived by one son and one daughter: Charles I. Belden III and Carly Lee Belden of Cherokee; three sisters and one brother: Karen Sabin and Patty Murray of Phoenix, New York; Donna DeVore of Mexico, New York; Don (Robin) McEwen of Austin, Minnesota; an aunt and uncle: Pat (Steve) Shear of Raleigh, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; four great nephews and her extended family- Jeri, Brian and Shawn Ruden of Cherokee.
