ROCKWELL CITY - The Ridge View girls won five of six matches and were 11-2 in games to finish second at Saturday's South Central Calhoun Invitational volleyball tournament here.
Kuemper Catholic of Carroll won the tournament, winning all six of their matches, including a 14-12, 21-14, 15-6 match over the Raptors in the championship match.
Other teams competing included East Sac County (4-2), Perry (3-3), South Central Calhoun (3-3), Panorama (1-5) and St. Edmond of Fort Dodge (0-6).
Kuemper defeated Perry 21-6, 21-19 to advance to the final game, while Ridge View topped East Sac County 21-16, 21-16 in their semi-final game.
Kaitlynn Madsen had six kills for Ridge Ciew in the championship game, while Lexi Johnson and Gretchen Kistenmacher each had five. Nicole Snyder dished out 19 assists. For the day - in 13 games - Madsen had 30 kills and Kistenmacher 32; Snyder had 109 assists; Jayde Vodrak had 13 blocks, Madsen had six and Anna Davis had five; Dana Hustedt had 57 digs; and Hustedt had six ace serves while Lexi Johnson had four.
Ridge View Coach Scott Mitchell said, "We played well for most of the day, but we still had lapses and made too many unforced errors, which always come back to hurt you against good teams."
Mitchell also stated that the team passed the ball well, and picked up their defensive effort after their first match against Kuemper.
Ridge View now has a season mark of 13-2, heading into a Western Valley Conference game at Kingsley-Pierson on Tuesday. On Thursday, they travel to Storm Lake to take on the Tornadoes in a non-conference match.
