As I mentioned in my last article, it has been rather quiet in the children's department since the beginning of school.
Everyone is getting back into a routine where they are learning new things, seeing old friends, and participating in activities before and after school. I hope part of your routine will include the Cherokee Public Library and the programs we have to offer.
Last Saturday a group of toddlers and their parents participated in the Terrific Toddler Story Time. We did a lot of action songs, bouncing rhymes, and some finger plays. It's always interesting to see how the children react when they see their parents jumping up and down or making silly faces when we do our activities. The Terrific Toddlers meet one Saturday each month. So if anyone has children ages one to three please join us for a half hour of stories and activities.
Tuesday, Sept. 11 was our first Preschool Story Time. I shared three stories with the children. One was about the library. Another was about a hungry green frog, and the third story was about colors.
Then we sang a couple of action songs and did a frog coloring sheet. If you would like to attend the Preschool Story Time and join in the learning and fun we will meet every Tuesday from 10:30 -- 11 a.m.
Our next library program will be Monday, September 17 from 3:45 -- 4:45 p.m. Brandon Billings, a long time Lego builder, will display and talk about how his Lego interests helped him become the engineer he is today.
He will also give the youth the opportunity to create their own Lego creations All ages are welcome. If you have any Legos of your own please bring them. Students, don't forget to ride the IC bus to the library and ask the bus driver to drop you off at the library. So come and build, build, build!
If any one has any questions call 225-3498 and ask for Peg.
