MAPLE VALLEY - The Ridge View High School boys varsity Cross Country team took first place here on Thursday in the Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto Invitational Meet.
The Raptors scored 47 team points to runner-up MVAO, which scored 65 points. Hinton was third with 70 points, Westwood fourth with 81 points, Ar-We-Va scored 100 and West Monona had 105.
The Ridge View girls placed 5th in the team standings, scoring 89 points, to trail West Harrison, MVAO, Hinton and Ar-We-Va. Lawton-Bronson finished 6th.
Individually, for the Raptor Varsity boys, Jason Kenny won the individual 5k race with a time of 16:37.87 - exactly one minute faster than he ran in last year's MVAO meet. Christian Egger was 5th, with a time of 18:21.96; Sergio Carbajal was 10th, in 18:58.82; Charlie Kliegl was 16th, in 19:56.56; Luke Kliegl was 18th, with a time of 20:07.91; and Zach Kenny was 24th, with a time of 21:17.84.
Rachel Hunt led the Ridge View varsity girls, running the 4k course in 19:17.74 to capture 12th place; Rachel Boyle got 17th with her time of 19:57.41; Kate Mathes ran the course in 20:07.98 for 19th place; Melissa Brandt was 24th, in 20:32.69; and Susie Collier was 29th, running in a time of 21:44.88.
Ridge View also entered JV runners, and for the girls' JV, Sami Naberhaus placed 6th in a time of 22:06.99; Angela Livezey was 7th, and Courtney Carstens placed 20th with a time of 23:05.04. Gabe Carbajal placed 2nd among JV boys runners, finishing in a time of 20:47.61, and teammates Alex Bishop and Jonah Kistenmacher placed 6th and 7th respectively, finishing the course in 23:44.31 and 23:50.86.
