Riedemann's heroics not enough for Wolverines

REMSEN - Jeremy Sanchez and Nick Braun scored three touchdowns apiece to lead Remsen-Union to a convincing 57-20 District 8-player victory over River Valley here Friday night.

Braun scored two rushing TDs while gaining 138 yards on 21 carries, including a 43-yard TD scamper; and Sanchez rang up two rushing TDs after 11 carries for 122 yards, the longest a 42-yard beauty.

In addition, both speedsters chalked up kick-off return TDs, with Braun's from 67 yards out, and Sanchez's from 54 yards away.

Rocket quarterback Cam Kuchel completed 11-17 passes for 111 yards and two TDs, including a 29-yard connection to Tanner Hilbrands, and a 15-yard hook-up with Danny Smith.

River Valley's junior QB Brennan Riedemann was in on three TDs, rushing the ball 36 times for 151 yards and two TDs, and passing 17-41 for 150 yards and one TD and two interceptions. Riedemann connected with Sam Briese for 32 yards for the aerial TD. Riedemann also carried the ball into the endzone for a two-point conversion.

Jimmy Cockburn paced the River Valley defense with 21 tackles, followed by Parker Goettsch with 17, Riedemann 16, and Hunter Casey 16. Riedemann also recovered a fumble for the Wolverines.

Austin Felts led the Rocket tacklers with 18, while Andrew Hagert tallied 13, Ethan Van Dam 13, Hilbrands 12, and Cole Owens 10. Braun and Van Dam each had pass interceptions.

River Valley (2-3) hosts explosive Harris-Lake Park (3-2) Friday, while the Rockets (2-3) play at winless Clay Central-Everly (0-5).
