SCHALLER - The Western Valley Conference held a Pool Play Conference Volleyball Tournament here on Satturday, and the host Ridge View team came away with a 5-0 record in their pool.
The Raptors defeated Charter Oak-Ute, 21-4, 21-8; Westwood, 21-11, 21-13; Woodbury Central, 21-10, 21-16; Logan-Magnolia, 21-5, 21-12; and Ar-We-Va, 21-18.
Ridge View Coach Scott Mitchell said his team played very consistently throughout the day, adding that they were moving a little slow in the morning, but picked it up as the day went on. He said the Raptors did a good job at the net with their hitting and blocking.
Gretchen Kistenmacher had 31 kills on the day for Ridge View, while Kaitlynn Madsen had 25 and Kyra Hoffman 18. Nicole Snyder dished out 97 assists; Madsen blocked 12 shots and Jayde Vondrak 9, and Lexi Johnson had eight ace serves, while Anna Davis had four. Dana Hustedt led in digs with 36, followed by Ashlynn Blenner, who had 32, and Kistenmacher, with 28.
Mitchell said the team has a big week this week, as the Conference finals were played Monday night and Senior Night was Tuesday.
On top of that, this is also Football Homecoming Week at Ridge View, and Coach Mitchell said he hoped that the team could "put aside all of the distractions and play well."
