MAPLETON - River Valley lost to Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto (21-4) in three sets, in Western Valley Conference volleyball action here on Thursday. Game scores were 4-25, 22-25 and 11-25.

Olivia Goettsch and Jenna Knaack of RV were each successful on all of their serve attempts on the night, with Knaack landing two ace serves and Goettsch one. The duo also led the team in digs, with Knaack having 12 and Goettsch 11. Goettsch, a junior, also blocked four shots.

RV Coach Pamela Frederiksen commented, "MVAO is a great volleyball team. They are lucky to be led by one of the best high school coaches in the state (Dennis Benson). My girls did a good job passing the ball and not giving up, even when the score was not in our favor."

RV, whose season mark now stands at 2-22, hosted their own tournament over the weekend.
