#7 West Lyon downs A-A Warriors, 42-7

INWOOD - The West Lyon Wildcats, rated #7 in the state in Class A, rolled to a 42-7 victory over Alta-Aurelia in District football action here Friday.

The Wildcats' Brandon Snyder rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns and teammate Kaleb Heyer rushed for 126 yards on 13 carries to pace the Wildcats, now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the district. Snyder also passed for one score.

The Warriors were led on the ground by Garrett VanHouten, who ran the ball 28 times for 82 yards, and Manuel Murillo, who carried 15 times for 51 yards. Michael Stender scored the Warriors' lone TD on a 13-yard run, and Junior Molina kicked the extra point.

Joe Napierala completed just one of his eight pass attempts for Alta-Aurelia, a three yarder to Stender. He was not intercepted.

Stephen Handwork, Jackson Rosenthal and Garrett VanHouten were each in on eight tackles for the Warrior defense and sophomore Conner Napierala was in on seven stops.. The Warriors recovered three fumbles - one apiece by Zach Lukkes, Junior Molina and Dylan Ohlson.

The Warriors, who now have a 1-5 season record and are 1-3 in the extremely tough District 1, have another tough contest Friday when they host undefeated Akron-Westfield at Alta. The Westerners are ranked #3 in the latest Class A poll.
