HOLSTEIN - Dru Kenny rang up two touchdowns rushing on 25 carries for 158 total yards to lead Ridge View to a tight 29-28 Class 1A District football upset of Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto here Friday night.
The Raptors ran their record to 2-4 with the win, while the Rams drop to 3-3 with three games left in regular season play.
Ridge View rushed the ball 46 times for 237 yards, with quarterback Ryan Garthoff adding 18 carries for 74 yards. Garthoff completed 6-11 passes for 129 yards and one TD to Kenny for an exciting 58-yard TD connection. John Kofmehl caught a pass for 38 yards, and Michael Tiefenthaler had two catches for 22 yards.
Jesus Nava kicked three PATs for the winners, and Garthoff tallied two 2-point conversions.
MVAO QB Ryan Dougherty completed 18-30 passes for one TD, and rushed 23 times for 69 yards and one 3-yard TD to pace the Rams. Tanner Peterson was 1-1 passing for the Rams and one TD, both aerial scores hauled in by Brody Kafton, who snagged three passes for 65 total yards. Petersen caught seven passes for 72 yards, and Kyle Hardisty four for 35.
Michael Davidson led the Raptors on defense with 13 tackles, followed by Dillon Kunneke 12, Nate Myrice eight, and Kenny and Mason Johnson seven each. Kenny also had a fumble recovery for Ridge View.
Eric Koerner led the Rams on defense with 21 tackles, followed by Kaafton 12, Dougherty 12, and Derik Bailey 11.
Ridge View plays at Pocahonta Area/Pomeroy-Palmer (4-2) Friday.
