Officer Zach Sittig
The Cherokee Police Department hired a new Police Officer recently. Zach Sittig started work in Cherokee on September 19, and he says he is "looking forward to getting to know the town and people of Cherokee, and being a positive role model for everyone."

Zittig, a native of Grinnell, Iowa, graduated from Grinnell High School in 2008 and earned a degree from the University of Northern Iowa in May 2012, with a major in Public Administration and a minor in Criminology.

This is his first job as a Police Officer, and he generally works the 4 p.m. - 2 a.m. shift. He will be receiving more training at the State Police Academy for 14 weeks, starting in January 2013.

Zach, who is single, is currently renting a home in Cherokee. His father is Police Chief in Pleasant Hill.
