RV supports breast cancer awareness

Monday, October 8, 2012

CORRECTIONVILLE - October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the River Valley High School volleyball and football teams will be having a Breast Cancer Awareness Week October 8 to October 12, with the students wearing pink all three days during the school day, as well as at the volleyball and football games.

The volleyball and football coaches sold "pink-out" shirts to the staff and students, and the extra money raised from the shirt sales will be donated to the June E Nylen Cancer Center.

Tonight, the volleyball team plays Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove, and both the RV and OA-BCIG teams will be wearing pink jerseys. The volleyball and football teams are also having a silent auction during the game, at which some of the pink football and volleyball jerseys will be sold. The money from the silent auction will also be donated to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.

The volleyball team will be wearing their pink jerseys again for their match on Thursday night, and on Friday the football team is having a "pink out" game as well. The members of the RV team will have pink breast cancer ribbon stickers on their helmets and a big ribbon spray will also be painted at the 50-yard line. The football Wolverines play Whiting.
