The Cherokee Washington High cross country squads ran in the annual Cherokee Cross Country Invitational last week on the scenic Cherokee Mental Health Institute Course, with the girls finishing 11th in the 12-team competition and the boys failing to field a full team and not figuring in the team scoring.
However, Cherokee's three runners in the boys division fared well, with Eamon Adamson placing sixth overall to medal in a time of 17:24, followed by Jaden Lux 21st in 18:08, and Andy Pitts 65th in a time of 19:31.
Hull Western Christian won the boys competition with 96 points, followed by Okoboji 98, Storm Lake 117, MOC-Floyd Valley 132, Spirit Lake 141, Orange City Unity Christian 150, Trinity Christian 172, Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove 176, Sioux Center 183, Le Mars 214, Sheldon 259, Maple Valley/Anthoin-Oto 319.
Hanna Bennigsdorf led the Cherokee girls to the tape, placing 25th in 17:37, followed by Brianna DeVos 44th in 18:39, Danni Roethler 59th in 19:54, Sydney Hart 61st in 20:16, and Isabelle Reusch 72nd in 23:02.

MOC-FV won the girls race with 32 points, followed by Unity Christian 75, Le Mars 83, Spirit Lake 163, Sioux Center 178, Sheldon 180, Okoboji 187, HWC 199, OA-BCIG 228, Storm Lake 249, Cherokee 261, and MVAO 266.
