CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley girls played host to Siouxland Community Christian High School of Sioux City on Thursday night in a non-conference volleyball match, and the Wolverines fell to the Eagles, 3 games to 1, with game scores of 25-17, 19-25, 27-25, 25-21.
Olivia Goettsch had nine kills for RV, while Jenna Knaack dished out 15 assists. Allison Brown had 15 digs and Kelsie Brown, and Alysa Georgopoulos each had a dozen, while Brianna Eades and Olivia Goettsch each had 11.
Olivia Goettsch also blocked five shots and Alysa Georgopoulos blocked three. Freshman Payton Goettsch was 14-14 on her serves and Georgopoulos was 11-11.
RV Coach Pamela Frederiksen said, "We came on strong at the beginning of the first set and then let up. I know we could have played better. No matter who we are are playing, each and every night the girls need to come ready to play and work hard.
"No win is ever handed to any team, and each and every player has to be mentally ready each night. Mistakes happen, but to dig deep and recover from these mistakes is what is going to make us a better team."
River Valley now has a 3-27 record on the season.
