Akron-Westfield's Cory Eskra passed for 269 yards, including 200 yards receiving by Chance Hoffman, who snared 10 passes, including a 7-yard touchdown and another reception for 40 yards.Taylor James also rushed 27 times for 141 yards for A-W.
The Warriors were led by running back Garrett VanHouten, who ran the ball 20 times for 75 yards and scored two touchdowns, one from 29 yards out. Junior Muchael Stender gained 52 yards on 17 carries, and Alex Stephan scored the other Warrior TD on a one-yard run.
On defense, Jackson Rosenthal was involved in 14 tackles for Alta-Aurelia, while VanHouten was in on a dozen and Stephan on 10; Van Houten and Kale Nelson each intercepted a pass; and Conner Napierala recovered a fumble.
Akron-Westfield's record improved o 7-0 and 5-0 in District play with the hard-fought win, while Alta-Aurelia's season record is now 1-6, and they are 1-4 in District play in one of the toughest District in the state.
Friday, the Warriors face another tough District game when they travel to Hinton for a contest against the Blackhawks (5-2).
