POCAHONTAS - Improving steadily as the season wears on, the Ridge View football team slipped past a good Pocahontas Area/Pomeroy-Palmer team 18-12 in Class 1A District 2 football action here Friday night.
For the visiting Raptors, Dru Kenny was the main man this night, accounting for 14 of his team's 18 total points, including a 58-yard touchdown run, a 60-yard TD pass from quarterback John Kofmehl, and a two-point conversion run.
Jesus Nava rounded out the Raptor scoring with 25-yard field goal and a PAT.
Ridge View rushed the ball 41 times for 202 yards, with Kenny gaining 140 of those on 25 carries. Matt Wandrey had 61 yards on 13 hauls. Kofmehl finished with 3-10 passing for 84 yards, one TD, and one interception.
Draven Barth tallied both of the Indians' TDs on a 10-yard run into the endzone, and an exciting 88-yard kick-off return. Barth rushed the ball 23 times for 82 yards to lead PA/PP's ground game.
Indian QB Aaron Youngberg completed 7-20 passes for 81 yards and no TDs or picks.
Michael Davidson led the Ridge View defense with 11 tackles and a fumble recovery, while Nate Myrice had 10 tackles, Kirby Goettsch nine, Wandrey eight, and Joe Tokheim seven.
jay Brinkman paced the Indian defense with 16 stops, followed by David Olson 12, and Jeremy Watson nine.
Ridge View (3-4) hosts Class 2A Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove (5-2) Friday night in a non-district neighborhood tussle.
