Start Regional play Tuesday

POCAHONTAS - Alta-Aurelia won two matches here on Thursday night to take 9th place in the regular season-ending Twin Lakes Conference Volleyball Tournament.

The Warriors topped Pocahontas Area/Pomeoy-Palmer in two close games, 28-26 and 25-23, then beat SE Webster Grand, 25-13, 25-6.

Jenna Snyder had eight kills and nine digs for the Warriors in the Pocahontas Area match, while Kelsi Snyder had 14 assists and 10 digs. Katie Turnquist was 15-15 serving with one ace serve, and Erica Lockin was 13-13 with two aces.

Jenna Snyder also had eight kills in the SE Webster match, while Katie Turnquist had five. Freshman Lexie Patton was 11-12 serving with five ace serves, while Turnquist was 10-11 with two aces and Gracie Winterhof was 9-10 with two aces.

Pocahontas Area beat SE Webster Grand, 25-23, 25-16 to take 10th place in the tournament. `

The tournament winner was East Sac County, which defeated South Central Calhoun in the championship match. Laurens-Marathon took the 3rd place match over Newell-Fonda; Prairie Valley was 5th; Manson/NW Webster 6th; Sioux Central 7th; and Storm Lake St. Mary's 8th.

The Warriors finished their regular season with an 18-17 record, and they will meet TLC foe Sioux Central in Alta on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the Class 2A Regional Tournament.
