8-0 MMC Eagles demolish winless CCE, 56-0

EVERLY - The 8-0, 7th ranked Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn football team trampled out-manned Clay Central Everly 56-0 in 8-player football action here Friday night.

The Eagles rushed for seven touchdowns in the game, with Andrew Hoefling leading the way with three, Jake Meehan adding two, and Conner Holmes and Dylan Spieler one apiece.

MMC rushed the ball 35 times for 322 yards, with Hoefling leading the way with nine totes for 153 yards, including his longest TD of 38 yards. Meehan carried the ball seven times for 58 yards and two TDs, Holmes four hauls for 43 yards and one TD, and Spieler three carries for 26 yards and one TD from 27 yards away.

MMC quarterback Tanner Utesch, content to work the crushing ground attack, completed three of four passes for 51 yards. His back-up Ben McDaniels was 1-2 passing for 10 yards. Spieler kicked five PATs and tallied two 2-point conversion runs.

The alert Eagle defense picked off two passes, with Erik Nelson rambling for a 35-yard TD run on his, and Isaiah Petersen snagging one and returning it 34 yards.

Justin Theisen paced the Eagle defense with eight tackles, while Dylan Rolfes, Jacob Letsche, and Josh Kach registered six each, and Holmes five.

No statistics were made available for the 0-8 Mavericks.

The 8-0 Eagles host 3-5 Kingsley-Pierson Friday night to end regular season play.
