HINTON - Alta-Aurelia continued the journey down the rugged road that is Class A District 1 Friday night when they took on the Hinton Blackhawks on the gridiron. The Warriors fell by a score of 40-14, as Hinton rolled up 217 yards on the ground and another 118 through the air. Blachawk QB Cole Johnston completed 5 of his 10 pass attempts for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Jason Vander Kooi hauled in a 75-yard TD strike from Johnston for one of the Hinton TDS and Jake Hasselquist scored on a 22-yard aerial. Dalton Becker also scored two touchdowns on the ground for the Blackhawks, rushing for 112 yards on 16 carries to pace the Hinton ground attack.
The Warriors, who are now 1-7 overall and 1-5 in District play, were led by Garrett Van Houten,who rushed for 110 yards on 20 carries. Alex Stephan added 77 yards on his six carries, and Joe Napierala was 10 for 19 with one interception for 107 yards.
Alta-Aurelia plays their season finale against West Sioux this Friday at Valor Field in Aurelia.
